Some people find their calling early. Modesto Tomeldan found his at 45, and built a career rooted in perseverance, leadership, and service.
Today, Modesto serves as Senior Partner and a key member of the executive leadership team at LEGACI Tomorrow Insurance & Financial Services, helping support the strategic direction of the Sacramento, CA-based agency while growing and developing a team of driven financial representatives. His message to anyone considering the industry is direct and without hesitation: "If you have the right attitude, willpower, and a sincere desire to make a positive difference in other people's lives, I can help teach you how to navigate this business with intention, accountability, and integrity."
A Story Built on Perseverance
In 2015, Modesto was 45, unemployed, and felt invisible to a job market that had moved on without him, despite holding a Master's degree in Business Administration and Management from Central Michigan University and 13 years of decorated service in the U.S. Army, including elite training as a healthcare and medical specialist at the U.S. Army Academy of Health Science. "I was priced and aged out of the job market. I didn't think anyone would ever hire me."
Then came a conversation that changed everything. Introduced to Head of Agency Thomas Le, Modesto was told something he hadn't heard in a long time: grit, discipline, and coachability could outperform any résumé, at any age. He liked the idea of being paid for his performance. So he bet on himself.
Earned, Not Given
Modesto failed the life insurance licensing exam four times. He showed up for a fifth. Newly licensed and laser-focused, he made good on his belief that a strong first month would set the stage for everything that followed. It did. By 2020, he had earned a promotion to partner, and never looked back.
His watchword has remained constant through every obstacle and every milestone: "Perseverance and growth." Not as a slogan, but as a lived standard.
Helping to Build the Next Generation
At LEGACI Tomorrow, Modesto is more than an executive, he's a builder. He actively recruits and develops individuals who are motivated, coachable, and committed to making a genuine difference in clients' lives. He now cultivates in others the same qualities Thomas Le once saw in him.
Rooted in Faith and Family
Outside the office, Modesto draws his deepest strength from his family and community. He and his wife Lailane, a part-time registered nurse, have shared nearly 30 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of two sons: Joseph, 26, a Registered Nurse, and Jonathan, 18, a senior at Christian Brothers Catholic School who is joining LEGACI Tomorrow as a Financial Professional. The legacy, quite literally, continues at home.
Modesto is an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and serves in the music ministry at St. Robert's Catholic Church, reflecting the same faith and community spirit that drives everything he does.
Modesto Tomeldan proves that it's never too late to start, and that the right environment, the right mentor, and an unshakable belief in yourself can rewrite any story.
